Today in Qurghonteppa a competition on the subject "Basics of Economy" was conducted among 11th grades pupils from 13 towns and districts of Khatlon province. From 69 talented and active young people, 33 of them became finalists and received a certificate to participate in the winter camp “Young Economist”, which will be held in Sughd province. Two teachers of this subject as a tutors will accompany them.
During the eight days pupils will learn how to; write business plans, make the business sustainable, make benefits from business, create new job places, and invest in the country’s economy.
The National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan has for the second time organized this competition, which sits within the framework of USAID “Women’s Entrepreneurship for Empowerment” project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and its branches in towns and districts of Khatlon province.
The aim of the competition is to improve the economic knowledge of young people, and for them to generate new ideas about creating and running new businesses.
Last year before conducting this competition, the National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan conducted training for the 40 teachers to improve their knowledge and skills on the subject “Basics of Economy”. As a result, teachers using their gained knowledge taught pupils and ensured active participation of young people in the competition. Last year 28 pupils from eight towns and districts of Khatlon province participated in the winter camp.
